Important Banff Branch Update

We are excited to share an exciting update with you! As part of our move to our new location, our Banff branch will transition to cashless operations to an (aka a Smart Branch) on April 30th in advance of our relocation at the end of May/early June 2026. 

This change is part of our broader evolution to better serve you in our upcoming new space. Our new location on Bear Street will open in early June, and we'll keep you informed about the grand opening date and address through multiple lines of communication, including in person, on the phone, our website at bowvalleycu.com and on our social media channels. 

What This Means for You

During our final weeks on Banff Avenue after May 1st and at our new location, we will no longer handle cash transactions. However, we remain fully equipped to assist you with all other banking needs, including account openings, loan applications, financial consultations, and any questions about your accounts.

We're grateful for your membership and excited to welcome you to our new home soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make this move to better serve you.

General Questions

We are moving at the end of May! We will open in our new location in early June, to allow our staff to make the move and get ready to serve our members.
A smart cashless branch focuses on consultations, financial advice, and digital services. It's designed to give you faster service and more personalized attention.
This change allows us to invest in enhanced security, and more personalized service, leaning into what our metrics tell us the Town of Banff is looking for in terms of service. As part of our move to our new location, we're modernizing our operations to enhance security, improve efficiency, and allow our team to focus more on personalized financial services like loans, financial planning, and account management. This approach is increasingly common in banking and allows us to invest more in the services our members value most.
We will be fully cashless on April 30, 2026.

Technology Questions

Absolutely! Our staff will be available to guide you through every transaction until you feel comfortable. We're also offering free one-on-one training sessions by appointment to assist with navigating online banking.

Service Questions

Yes! In fact, this change means MORE time for consultations. You can schedule appointments for loans, financial planning, account questions, and more. Our staff will have more time to dedicate to your needs. Members have the option to book appointments to meet with advisors either in branch, over the phone, or virtually.
No, all your account information remains the same.
All services except cash handling at the teller counter, including account opening, loan applications, financial consultations, and member support.
Yes! Cheques can be deposited in branch during business hours, at other BVCU ATM locations or via mobile deposit available through the BVCU online banking app.

Cash & Transaction Questions

You can get access to cash services at one of our other locations, the closest being Canmore, but also in our other communities of Cochrane, Airdrie, and Calgary.
For business coin orders, please contact one of our other locations, the closest being Canmore Branch for support.
Our branch team can continue to support any cheque transactions, draft needs, as well as issuing a new debit card.

Location & Hours Questions

Our location hours will be 9:30am to 5:00pm. 
Canmore is a cash-handling branch, plus thousands of surcharge-free credit union ATMs nationwide through our Ding Free network.
No. These changes only apply to our Banff location. Currently our Acheson and Red Deer location are also cashless.

Concerns & Alternatives

No need! You are a member of BVCU, and you can attend any other Bow Valley Branch location, and they will be able to assist you with any other traditional services.

Red Deer Location Phase One Now Open!

To ensure the best experience for our members and our team, our Red Deer location will be open by appointment only during this initial phase. This approach allows us to manage our workflow thoughtfully, provide personalized service, and set ourselves up for long-term success.

This model also helps us maintain strong internal collaboration and a balanced work environment, so we can continue to deliver the high-quality service you expect.
