With Deposit Anywhere™, you can quickly and securely deposit cheques with your smartphone or tablet, from anywhere, anytime.

So whether you’re at coffee with friends, at work, or staying up late to get your banking done—any time is the right time to deposit cheques.

Here's how it works:

  1. Open the app on your smartphone.
  2. Select the account you'd like your funds deposited to and enter the amount.
  3. Snap a photo of the front and back of your cheque.
  4. Confirm the details and tap “submit”. That’s it - the funds will be deposited securely into your account.

Answers to frequently asked questions regarding the Deposit Anywhere™ feature.

What is Deposit Anywhere™?
Deposit Anywhwere™ is a new feature on our mobile app that allows you to deposit cheques by taking a photo of them and submitted them to Bow Valley Credit Union, anytime, from anywhere.

Do I have to sign up to use this product?
Deposit Anywhere™ will be available on both the Apple and Android apps. If you have one of these apps you will automatically have access to this product and it does not require additional steps to activate.

Will my deposited cheque show up immediately in my account and can I use the funds right away?

Yes. Once the transaction is completed, the deposit shows up immediately in your account. However, there is an automatic 4 day hold placed on a cheque when deposited via Deposit Anywhere. 

Is depositing cheques with a mobile phone safe?
Yes. As a feature of our mobile banking app, Deposit Anywhere™ meets the same high standards as our mobile and online banking services.

Do I pay a fee to deposit a cheque using the app?
There are no fees to use this service.

Can I deposit the cheque into any account?
Cheques can be deposited into a savings or chequing account.

What types of cheques cannot be deposited?
US Funds and post-dated cheques cannot be deposited at this time.

How will I know if there is an issue with my deposit after I submit the cheque?
In the rare circumstance that there is an issue with the deposit after you recieve confirmation during the deposit, you will be contacted by us.

What happens if I enter the wrong amount by mistake?
We double check all the information to ensure the right amount is deposited quickly and securely into your account.

What should I do with my paper cheques afterwards?
The cheques should be destroyed after 90 days.  You do not need to send the cheques to your branch.

Are there any items, other than cheques, that can be deposited?
Yes.  The following items can be processed

  • Cheque
  • Money order
  • Bank draft
  • Convenience cheque
  • Certified cheque

The following items will be rejected:

  • U.S. funds cheque
  • U.S. cheque
  • Non-Canadian and non-U.S. cheque
  • Return item
  • Savings Bonds
